Traditional Italian White Wine Cookies
These cookies are delicious morsels of Italian tradition and complement just about anything. Especially wine! Pair these with one of our gift baskets and give as a holiday gift, or keep them to yourself. Either way, you need to make these!
Ingredients:
1 C. Sugar
1 C. White Wine of choice
5 C. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
2/3 C. Vegetable Oil
Pinch of Salt
Additional sugar to coat cookies
Directions:
-
Preheat your oven to 350°.
-
Combine the sugar, wine, oil, baking powder, and pinch of salt in a medium mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly, adding 1 Cup of flour at a time and mixing before adding the next. Continue until all flour is added.
-
Let the dough rest for at least 5 minutes (don't skip this step!)
-
In the meantime, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
On a flour-covered surface, roll a small piece of dough (a little smaller than a golf ball) into a thick rope, then roll that piece in the extra sugar to coat.
-
Bend the dough "rope" into a circle and place on the baking sheet. Repeat until all dough is used.
-
Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until they reach a light golden brown. Let cool before serving or storing.
