I've been ordering goodie baskets and treat towers from Wine Country for several years now for my mother who doesn't need "things" so I order her consumables. She LOVES receiving these goodies because she likes to snack. When she sees them come, she already knows it's from me.

This gift was supposed to be delivered to a very special friend during a very difficult time in his life. It was delivered to the wrong address, sat out in the heat for days, and when he finally got it 4 days later, half of the items were ruined. He lives in Nevada!

Since I order things as gifts, I wanted to try some of them to test. I sent this as a gift to myself. The packaging was nice. Solid red boxes (cute enough to re-use), with a nice glittery bow and some tape holding them all together. It came in a cardboard box and everything arrived quickly and in tact. Probably left over from Christmas or Valentine's Day, but not too holiday-y that you couldn't send for something else. (I ordered mine in April.) The chocolate candies were all good; I'd give them an A grade. The lemon cakes and brownies were also tasty, also an A. The madeleine cakes and fruit pie had good flavor, but were very dry. I'd give the fruit pie a B plus and the madeline cakes a B minus. The low point was the cookies. The lemon cookies were so-so in flavor and dry and crumbly. Not terrible, but sort of like a cheap grocery store cookie. I'd give them a C. The cocoa hazelnut cookies were bad. I didn't like the flavor at all. The order would have been better without them in it. Overall, for the discounted price I paid, I thought it was worth it. And I definitely wouldn't mind sending the whole thing as a gift to someone else. But I'll be careful about ordering those cookies.
