Red wine gets its color from grape skins, which stay in contact with the juice during fermentation. Reds range from light and fruity to rich and bold, so there's one for every taste. Light-bodied reds like Pinot Noir are delicate and bright. Medium-bodied reds like Merlot are smooth and easygoing. Full-bodied reds like Cabernet Sauvignon are bold and structured.
A simple pairing rule: match the weight of the wine to the weight of the food. Light reds go well with salmon, poultry and mushrooms. Bolder reds stand up to steak, lamb and hearty pastas. Our red wine gift baskets pair each bottle with gourmet snacks chosen to complement it. Shopping for a white wine fan? Browse our white wine gifts.
