3 Table Set-Up Ideas for Your Holiday Dinner
Whether you're hosting a holiday dinner in your home, or you just want to spruce up your dining room for the season, you may find yourself in need of some table decor. We've hosted many a festive dinner, so we figured we'd share some of our favorite table themes and decor tips to inspire you to mix it up this year. Whether you're a traditionalist or teetering on the more modern side, there is a Winter-inspired table set-up for you.
Let it Snow
Nothing says Winter quite like snow! Our favorite way to incorporate this natural magic into our decor is with a little bit of white and a whole lot of sparkle. It's as easy as picking up some fake snow and a few Christmas ornaments and candles. Start by spreading our your fake snow down the center of the table, leaving enough room for place settings around the edge. Next, place a few candles and one or two pieces of gold or silver decor in the center, like this deer or perhaps a snowman. Then, simply arrange ornaments over the empty patches of snow on the sides. Keep the rest of the table simple as well, with white, gold, or silver dishes and glasses. Want to take it one step further? Add fun, metallic placemats or napkins for extra flare.
Classic Christmas
Do you have a running collection of Santa figurines? Nutcrackers? Snow village pieces? It's time to break them out! For this theme, think all things red, green, and classic. We like to use a wreath to border our centerpiece, in this case a Santa statue, and a few branches of pine to fill out the sides. If you have cranberry sprigs or even poinsettia flowers, stick them throughout the wreath and the pine needles for an extra touch of red. You can also add ornaments to the mix, as we've done here, as well as festive colored candles. You have the most freedom with dishes here as well -- holiday themed plates, red chargers, fun plaid napkins, or whatever screams Christmas to you!
Bringing the Outside, Inside
Minimalists and naturalists rejoice! This table decor theme is perfectly simple, while bringing all the beauty of the outdoors into your home. You can find most of the pieces for this right outside of your front door, or perhaps at your local grocery store during the holiday season -- all things pine and wood welcome. Simply arrange an array of pine branches around a centerpiece of cream-colored candles, and scatter pinecones throughout. You're done, easy as that! We also added a beautiful wood serving platter as a base for the candles, to add a little extra dimension.
