Fresh herbs are a fun and easy way to take your homemade meals up a notch, not to mention they come with a seemingly endless list of health benefits. But unless you're cooking every meal at home, using the same herbs every day for a week, you probably end up throwing away old, store-bought herbs before you have a chance to use the whole bunch.

This is one of the many reasons that we encourage you to consider growing an herb garden at home. But perhaps you don't have the yard space, don't have the time, or live in a place with harsh weather conditions that makes it difficult to keep outdoor plants alive season after season. To that, we say: take it inside!

Save Space

An indoor herb garden is affordable to start, easy to maintain, and will make cooking infinitely more fun. For starters, an indoor herb garden is the perfect solution if you live in a city high-rise or an urban area that doesn't afford you much outdoor space. Simply set up your pots on the windowsill or on a table that gets a lot of natural light. This also helps to combat the effects of frost or cold Winter weather from chilling up and drying out your herbs!

Reduce Stress

An indoor herb garden can also go a long way to liven up your living space. These plants will add a healthy dose of color to your kitchen or living room, not to mention they'll smell great! Many people even find that having houseplants can be calming and relaxing, offering them an easy, stress-reducing routine.

For Convenience

Not sold on bringing your herb garden indoors? Well imagine that you're whipping up a homemade pasta sauce, or breading your chicken for dinner, and want to add some freshly chopped parsley. If your herbs are outside in the garden, you'll need to throw on some shoes and go outside to trim them, which you're much less likely to do than simply reach across the kitchen and pull some straight from the pot. You'll quickly find that having your herb garden inside the house will encourage you to use them more in your everyday cooking, since they are literally always within arms' reach.

For the Forgetful

Having your herb garden inside your home also makes it much, much easier to monitor how well they're doing. If you weren't necessarily born with a green thumb, then having an outdoor herb garden often means running outside every few days to make sure you're not over-watering or under-watering your plants. But if the herb garden is in your kitchen? You'll see them every day without having to take a single step out of your way. Simply give them a once-over every morning before breakfast or before you go to bed, making sure that the leaves feel firm and healthy, and then tend to them as needed.

Between the cost savings, health benefits, and ease of care, on top of how much it will help in upgrading your day-to-day cooking, there really is no reason to not have an indoor herb garden!
